BNB Hack Tokenized Stocks Edition: $20K prize, Sep 16 – Oct 11, 2026

Tokenized equities — stocks and ETFs that trade as on-chain tokens — are live on BNB Smart Chain but the tooling around them is thin. There are no reliable automated rebalancers, no portfolio trackers that understand both on-chain and off-chain legs, and no well-tested trading agents that can act on the price gap that opens every Friday at market close, when traditional stocks freeze but on-chain tokens keep trading. BNB Chain and Binance Web3 Wallet are paying $20,000 to whoever builds those tools first.

Event structure and timeline

BNB Hack: Tokenized Stocks Edition is an online hackathon running from September 16 to October 11, 2026. It has one track, open to teams and solo builders. Submissions lock on October 11 at 12:00 UTC. Judging runs October 12–23 and winners are announced the week of October 26.

The event is fully online and requires BSC mainnet deployment. Dry-runs with the Binance Web3 Wallet Transaction API are allowed during development, but the submitted demo must show live transactions on mainnet. Teams must fund their own wallets — the organizers note that a few dollars is enough to prove the flow works.

Prize structure

The total prize pool is $20,000, funded jointly by BNB Chain and Binance Web3 Wallet.

• 1st place: $6,000
• 2nd place: $4,000
• 3rd place: $3,000
• 4th place: $2,000
• 5th place: $1,000

Two additional special prizes of $2,000 each are layered on top — they apply to all submissions without a separate entry requirement, and a team can win a main placement and a special simultaneously:

• Best Use of Agentic Wallet / Wallet Skills ($2,000): awarded for the deepest and most credible use of the AI execution layer from the Binance Web3 Wallet. Funded by Binance Web3 Wallet.
• Best Use of BNB Agent Studio ($2,000): awarded for the deepest use of Agent Studio — agent identity, autonomous runtime, self-funding via x402. Funded by BNB Chain.

Beyond cash, finalists get free API access with elevated rate limits during the event, one mentor per finalist team, Kickstart Package eligibility for top projects, winner spotlights on X and bnbchain.org, and BNB Agent Studio runtime credits during the build window for teams running agents on testnet.

Track rules and what you need to build

The track has four hard constraints:

• At least one of bStocks, Ondo, or xStocks must be central to the submission. Cross-asset products that pair a tokenized equity with crypto or stablecoins are explicitly in scope.
• Spot only — perpetual derivatives are out of scope.
• BSC mainnet only for the deployed demo.
• One entry per team; the repo, demo, and deployed link must stay accessible through the judging period.

The organizers explicitly welcome and expect AI agents. Agents are scored on architecture quality and how they are built, not on PnL — the event documentation states this clearly to avoid participants optimizing for backtested returns rather than real products.

The specific problem this targets

To understand why BNB Chain is running this hackathon, it helps to understand the timing gap in tokenized stocks. Traditional equity markets close on Friday afternoon and reopen Monday. The tokenized versions of those same stocks trade continuously on-chain over the weekend. That creates a structural arbitrage opportunity: the on-chain token's price feeds from a reference that has not updated since Friday's close, while any real price discovery that happens over the weekend (earnings reports, macro events, news) is reflected in the price when markets reopen Monday. Most automated systems currently in production do not act on this gap.

More broadly, the tokenized stocks ecosystem on BSC has three projects that have attracted liquidity — bStocks (from BTCC), Ondo Finance (a regulated RWA protocol that tokenizes US Treasuries and equities), and xStocks — but the user-facing tooling is minimal. There are no standard portfolio trackers that combine on-chain tokenized equity positions with off-chain brokerage positions, no automated DCA (dollar-cost averaging) tools that execute across both asset classes, no thematic basket products, and no standardized onboarding flows for users coming from traditional finance. The hackathon's call for entries explicitly lists these as targets: 24/7 pricing and arbitrage tools, automated DCA and rebalancing, earnings agents, thematic baskets, stock onboarding flows, and trading dashboards.

The available technical stack

Builders get access to a set of components that have been prepared for this event:

• Binance Web3 Wallet API: a single API surface combining market data, RWA data, swap routing, transaction simulation, wallet state, and DeFi positions. Free access with elevated rate limits for registered participants. Documentation available as an llms.txt and llms-full.txt file for feeding directly to AI coding assistants.
• Atlas Oracle bStocks price feeds: free real-time price data for bStocks, available for builders creating lending, trading, or arbitrage tools. BNB Chain announced this separately on September 17, 2026.
• BNB Agent Studio: the reference implementation of the Agent Lifecycle Protocol (ALP), allowing builders to deploy autonomous agents on BSC mainnet that self-fund via x402 payments.
• PancakeSwap: the primary DEX on BSC, which has integrated tokenized stock trading via its bStocks feature and handles swap routing for these assets.
• BscTrace (bsctrace.com): a transaction tracing tool for BSC that builders can use to debug and verify on-chain execution.

Context: where tokenized stocks are on BNB Chain right now

As of September 2026, PancakeSwap reports that bStocks account for roughly 37.3% of its weekly trading volume in some markets, and CAKE burn data shows 36 consecutive months of net supply reduction, in part driven by fees from tokenized asset trading. Ondo Finance brings institutional-grade tokenized US Treasuries and equities to BSC, with verifiable custody via its official documentation. xStocks is a newer entrant building tokenized stock infrastructure for DeFi. The three together represent the main liquidity pools for on-chain equities on BSC as of this writing.

BNB Chain also launched a separate campaign called BNB Stonks Szn in parallel with the hackathon, offering $400,000 in user rewards for trading tokenized stocks, with a snapshot scheduled for September 21. That campaign creates market activity during the hackathon window — builders can observe real trading patterns while they build their products.

Eligibility and restrictions

The hackathon is open to teams and solo builders. It is not open to residents of or persons located in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, the United Kingdom, or Japan. Participants must confirm they are not on any sanctions list. The Binance Web3 Wallet developer product has its own list of prohibited regions, linked from the hackathon page.
